Welcome from Co-op Academy Bebington

Dear Parents, Carers, and Students,

As we reach the end of an incredibly productive spring term, I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very restful and happy Easter break.

I have been struck by the vibrant energy and dedication of our school community. Our students continue to impress me with their kindness and curiosity, while our staff have worked tirelessly to ensure every child is supported and challenged. It is this spirit of hard work and mutual respect that makes our school such a special place to be.

I would like to take this opportunity to say goodbye to Mrs S Davies, who is leaving us for a well earned retirement after over 23 years at the school. Thank you and you will be missed.

A Special Note for Year 11

I want to give a particular mention to our Year 11 students. We know that for many of you, this "break" involves revision as you prepare for your upcoming exams. We are incredibly proud of the maturity and focus you are showing. Remember to balance your studies with plenty of rest—a refreshed mind is just as important as a well-prepared one!

We look forward to seeing everyone return safely, ready for the final term of the year.

Warm regards,

Mrs. Whisker

Headteacher

Co-op Academies Cooking Competition

On the 12th March, we held our heat of the Co-op Academies Trust Cookery Competition, with 14 KS3 students taking part. Working in pairs, they had just one hour to make a pizza from scratch!

Our panel of three judges all agreed that the winners were Max and Ollivor with their inventive Indian spiced pizza – well done, guys!

Everyone did a great job, and it was tough to choose, so a huge thanks to everyone who took part and gave it their all.

A big thank you also to Tom from Chartwells and Melanie, our Academy Community Pioneer, for judging alongside Mr Fletcher.

Mentors in Violence Prevention

We are incredibly proud to share that 25 of our Year 9 students have successfully completed training with the MYA Raise Team and have been commissioned by the Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership (MVRP) as Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP)

The MVP programme is a powerful peer-education initiative, equipping young people with the language, confidence and framework to challenge gender-based violence, bullying and harmful attitudes — while promoting resilience and positive mental health.

Last week, the year 9 mentors delivered the first session to year 7 students during their PSHE lesson.

Don’t just take our word for how fantastic they were, see the quotes from students and staff.

'The boys were fantastic today, they were so confident and were so passionate about the topic' Ms Martinez

“The boys in my group were fantastic, confident, funny, and able to explain everything really well. They were also great at managing a Year 7 class. I am so proud of them.” — Ms Hargreaves

"The lesson really made me think about what a bystander is and why it's important to stand up to what is right" Lexi yr 7 student

"It made me think about gender stereotypes". Ollivor, year 7

JD UP Immersive Careers Event

A small group of Business and iMedia students attended the JD UP Immersive careers event with JD

It was a fully immersive day packed with hands-on industry experience:

  • Customising iconic JD duffle bags
  • Product styling & Digital Marketing workshops
  • Digital and practical challenges

Our students got exclusive career insights straight from JD's top team, including the Chief Transformation Officer, Group Director of Product, and the Digital Director.

There was even a surprise appearance from The Bov Boyz! Huge shoutout to NYKchazza, Tays, Heinz Baines, Jakey Davies, and Angry Ginge, for bringing the energy and making it an unforgettable day.

Our students threw themselves into every activity, were a credit to the school!

Men at Work Programme

Selected Year 7 students have begun the Men at Work programme.

This initiative supports boys and young men to explore what it means to be safe, to be safe to be around, and to build positive, healthy lives. The programme looks at cultural and social influences around masculinity and encourages thoughtful discussion and self-reflection.

Well done to all the students who have already completed the first two dialogues, “Respect” and “The Man Rules.”

They’ll continue working through the remaining sessions across the academic year — and we look forward to keeping you updated on their progress!

Mock Interviews

On 2nd February, we coordinated Mock Interviews for over 250 students from Year 10, Year 11, and Year 13.

The preparation started early - in Form time, assemblies, and at home with parents/carers.

Many arrived looking nervous, some even refusing to take part initially. But, they left with big smiles and great feedback from the interviewers. Students should be very proud of themselves.
Feedback from the interviewers was outstanding and they all loved meeting our students.

Thank you to everyone who helped the students prepare and to those who gave up their time to come into school.
