Welcome from Co-op Academy Bebington

A Season of Celebration: Wrapping Up My First Term

As we reach the end of my first full term at Co-op Academy Bebington, I find myself reflecting on the last few months with an immense sense of pride and gratitude. It has been a truly wonderful start to my journey here, and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our vibrant school community more deeply.

The lead-up to the festive break has been particularly special, filled with events that highlight the spirit of togetherness that makes our academy so unique.

Highlights from this term include

  • Year 7 Family Dining: It was a joy to host our very first Year 7 community dining event. Seeing our newest students sharing a meal with their tutors and form groups was a wonderful way to strengthen those vital school bonds.

  • Winterfest Concert: Our talented students truly shone during the Winterfest concert. The evening was a spectacular showcase of creativity and hard work, providing the perfect festive soundtrack to the end of the year.

  • Parent Coffee Morning: Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent coffee morning. These informal opportunities to chat and share feedback are invaluable as we continue to grow together.

Building on the progress we saw in the first half term, we launched our "Don’t Be Off in December" challenge. I am pleased to see so many students rising to the occasion, understanding that being present every day is the best way to ensure they "Succeed Together." Consistent attendance remains our priority as we move into the New Year.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the staff for their tireless dedication, to our students for their energy and resilience, and to you, the parents and carers, for your unwavering support. Being welcomed into this community has been the highlight of my year.

I wish you all a restful, safe, and very Merry Christmas. I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for an exciting Spring term!

Warmest wishes,

Mrs Jane Whisker

Headteacher

Pot Noodle Challenge

Huge congratulations to the winners and finalists of the Co-op Academies Trust Pot Noodle Challenge, who were invited to 1 Angel Square. They had the chance to speak with Co-op employees about their journey through the challenge and where they drew inspiration for their designs. Mollie and Maisie, who triumphed over many other schools, had the opportunity to see their final designs, which were featured in over 250 shops across the UK.

The competition, titled 'How Do You Noodle,' was a tremendous success, boosting profits during its three-week run. Well done to all!

Barcelona

In October half-term, students enjoyed a fantastic cultural trip to Barcelona. They enjoyed thrilling moments at Portaventura theme park and explored iconic landmarks, including the magnificent La Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, the renowned FC Barcelona museum, Las Ramblas, and the La Boqueria market.

We owe thanks to our dedicated staff. By giving up their half-term break, they ensured our students could enjoy this opportunity for exploration and enrichment.

Careers

Students on the Bebington Honours programme spent the morning at "What Next?" Wirral Careers and Skills show at The Hive.

In the afternoon, they took part in a fabulous workshop to reflect on their skills and learn about employability and careers in banking with Anna and Kerry from Bank of America. Thank you to both of you for coming in to inspire and motivate our students.

Drama

Natalie is the senior creative learning manager at Ambassadors Theatre Group and works alongside our Drama department to share wonderful opportunities with our students.

Students worked together to discuss the idea of 'my town is', sharing ideas on how to create a performance using specific themes. Students are now working to bring this to life in a performance ready to share!

How to have a Green Christmas

Our wonderful Eco club has designed a lovely Christmas message to help us all have a very merry 'green' Christmas.

  • Recycle your Christmas cards in January
  • Recycle old batteries – bring them into school in January for recycling
  • Be fantastic – avoid plastic!
  • Try and buy pre-loved items as gifts.

See you next time!
