Eco Conference

This week, our passionate Eco Club had the exciting opportunity to attend the annual Co-op Academies Trust Eco Conference — a day dedicated to celebrating sustainability, innovation, and youth action for the environment.

Held at 1 Angel Square, the event brought together students from across the Trust to share ideas, learn from each other, and be inspired by eco-conscious organisations making a real impact. Our students proudly presented updates on the incredible projects they’ve been working on this year with Mrs Hopkins. From reducing single-use plastics in school to planting pollinator-friendly gardens and promoting recycling awareness, the creativity and dedication on display was inspiring.

Throughout the day, students took part in a range of interactive workshops and hands-on sessions led by influential green organisations. Highlights included:

🌱 FungALL – where students explored the fascinating world of fungi and how mushrooms can be part of sustainable solutions, including packaging and soil regeneration.
🌎 fairandfunky – delivering an engaging workshop on creating useful items from our waste packaging and taking small, creative steps for positive change.
🌿 Plant MCR – teaching the importance of urban greening and showing how students can play a part in making cities more climate resilient and beautiful through community planting initiatives.

The conference was not only educational but hugely motivating. It gave our students a valuable platform to showcase their progress and be inspired by the efforts of others working towards a more sustainable future.

A massive well done to all of our Eco Club members and to Mrs Hopkins for leading the way. Your commitment, enthusiasm, and innovative thinking are helping shape a greener, brighter future for us all. 💚
