Road Safety Awareness Week

Last Week was Road Safety Awareness week and we ran a series of events to keep pupils and our community safe on our streets. We started the week with assemblies by our Wirral Council Active Travel and Road Safety Officers. Thank you to Chris and Louise who covered how to ride safe on the streets, and how to be respectful of all road users.

We followed this up with a visit on Friday from Dr Bike who have been delivering free safety and maintenance checks on our bikes. Our community police officers also visited and have security marked over 30 bikes free of charge and we have handed out 30 sets of free bike lights to keep pupils seen on our roads.

This week, as part of Road Safety Week, our Active Travel Team at Wirral Council have been delivering engaging school assemblies focused on how students can travel to school in ways that are active, environmentally friendly, and safe. Key messages shared with students include cycling respectfully, wearing a helmet and being mindful of all road users.

To build on these important lessons, next week we'll be providing Bikeright road safety training and 'own the ride' courses so students can gain awareness they need to ride safely on our streets.
