National Green Flag Eco Schools Accreditation

We have officially secured the prestigious Eco-Schools National Green Flag accreditation with Merit for the fourth consecutive year. The recognition celebrates the academy’s commitment to sustainability, environmental education, and youth-led climate action.
While led by the passionate members of the school’s Eco Club and Mrs Hopkins, the achievement reflects a collective effort across the entire school community, embedding environmental awareness both inside and outside the classroom.
Driving Change Across Key Environmental Themes
To earn the Merit distinction, the academy delivered impactful initiatives focused on three core areas:
-
Marine Preservation: Students explored aquatic ecosystems and marine conservation challenges, reinforced by immersive educational visits to the Blue Planet Aquarium for Year 9 and Year 10 groups.
-
Waste Reduction: School-wide campaigns focused on recycling, minimising single-use plastics, and encouraging responsible consumption across all year groups.
-
Biodiversity & Community Action: Hands-on conservation efforts took centre stage, highlighted by a Year 7 community action day at the local Prenton Claypits, where students helped protect and restore native habitats.
Empowering the Next Generation
The Eco-Schools Green Flag with Merit is a rigorous, student-led framework designed to empower young people to drive change. Retaining this award for four straight years highlights Co-op Academy Bebington’s long-term dedication to building a greener, more sustainable future.
