Is this course for me?

Employers, colleges and universities value Maths because it shows you can think logically, solve problems, work with numbers confidently and can learn and apply challenging concepts.

GCSE Maths provides you will skills you use throughout life, such as managing money and budgeting, problem solving and logical thinking, understanding data and statistics and making informed decisions.

Where does it lead?

A grade 4 in GCSE Maths is required for most Level 3 courses, apprenticeships and many university courses.

Maths is essential in a wide range of jobs including engineering, science and healthcare professions, construction, finance and accounting, business and management, retail and customer service roles and public (eg police, armed forces)

Achieving the qualification early improves future study and employment opportunities.

How will I be assessed?

If you have already attained a grade 3 in your Maths GCSE, you will be entered for the November resit series – this gives you the chance to secure a grade 4 as early as possible in the academic year. If you achieved below a grade 3 you will work towards the full GCSE Maths qualification throughout the year and take your exam in the May/June exam series.

The assessment takes the form of 3 equally weighted examination papers at the Foundation Tier (grades 1-5) each is one hour and 30 minutes:

  • Paper 1 : Non-Calculator
  • Paper 2: Calculator
  • Paper 3: Calculator
