A Level Photography - EDUQAS

5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English.

Is this course for me?

If you have enjoyed being able to work on your own ideas over the last few years and love taking photographs and manipulating images to express your ideas,  then this is the course for you. The AS year allows you to develop your Photography skills further and gives you time to experiment with a wide range of lens based media.

The classes are smaller than GCSE so you get time to discuss ideas each lesson and start to become an independent thinker and photographer. The course is mainly digital based but the exam board encourages sketchbook work to accompany your images. Portraiture is a vital part of the course so you must be willing to take self-portraits. Seeing the world through a lens is a skill you can develop quickly.

Where does it lead?

Many of our students have gone on to study Art and Design, Lens based media or animation at University. The course leads to careers in teaching, website design, games design, fashion journalism, graphic design, fashion photography, wedding photography or animation.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed throughout the year on your Photography and digital skills and the quality of your research. Working independently on your own ideas and creating innovative ideas increases your grade. The AS is assessed on one portfolio of work. A2 is one portfolio and an externally set exam.
